| The Coaching Association of Canada (CAC) is pleased to announce the launch of the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) Fundamental Movement Skills (FMS) Workshop. Based upon the fundamental stages of the Canadian Sport for Life model of long-term athlete development, this workshop is designed to teach current and future recreation and sport leaders how to analyze and improve a child’s movement pattern along a development continuum.
The workshop explores core NCCP themes such as fair play, safety, responsibility, and communication with an innovative skill development process. Participants are given the opportunity to practice strategies to improve fundamental movement skills such as throwing, hopping, skipping, jumping, kicking, striking, balancing, catching, and agility.
Three versions of the workshop are available:
-
NCCP FMS High School Leadership; designed for easy adaptation into a secondary school senior physical education or leadership curriculum.
-
NCCP FMS Community Leaders; a one-day workshop for leaders of community youth programs (physical activity and recreation programs).
-
NCCP FMS Coach Professional Development; a 3-hour professional development workshop for NCCP coaches and instructors.
