NCCP UPDATES
Coach
Education and Research at Petro-Canada Sport Leadership sportif 2009
Petro-Canada Sport Leadership sportif is one of the world’s premier
annual conferences for sport leaders. Delegates at this year’s
conference will have the opportunity to attend sessions featuring speakers
from around the world who have been involved with coach development
in their countries. NCCP-trained coaches, Learning Facilitators, and
Master Learning Facilitators are presenting in a number of sessions,
further enhancing Canada’s reputation as a world leader in coach
education.
Launching
the Process for Developing the Gradation Policy for the NCCP
This fall Andrew Moss of Swimming Canada and Moss Melien Sport Management
is launching a process which will lead to the development and implementation
of a Gradation Policy for the NCCP. This process is a departure from
past methods used to develop NCCP policies as CAC has hired a national
sport organization (NSO) as the lead facilitator for the process.
Professional
Development Policy Feedback Update
The Professional Development policy is a key component in the transition
to the new NCCP as it recognizes and encourages coaches to continue
to learn and to develop their competencies. The Professional Development
Advisory Group (PDAG) circulated a draft of the Professional Development
policy in June 2009. Many NCCP partners provided feedback on the draft
asking many questions and voicing some concerns. This article provides
an update on the development of this policy.
