The Globe and Mail newspaper’s annual list of Canada’s Top 50 in sport is an eagerly anticipated annual news happening. On the list this year was women-in-sport activist Guylaine Demers whose citation read: “University of Laval professor and president of Égale Action, she pushes for more female coaches at the elite level of sport in Canada.”

partnership between the Coaching Association
of Canada and the Aboriginal Sport Circle goes
back to 1994 when the National Aboriginal Coaching
and Leadership Program was introduced. The program,
whose content was tailored to reflect Aboriginal
cultures, values, and lifestyle, offered Aboriginal
communities the National Coaching Certification
Program’s Levels 1 and 2 Theory and Technical
