The CAC’s partnership with Petro-Canada spans more than 20 years and consists of steadfast, continuous leadership in recognizing the contribution of Canada’s coaches and athletes.
We are proud of our ongoing partnership and its positive impact on coach education in Canada, which supports coaches through the following programs:
Petro-Canada Sport Leadership sportif Conference and Awards Gala is Canada's largest conference for coaches, researchers, sport executives, and administrators. The event offers three days of learning, professional development, and networking with the top minds of leaders from the sport, business, and education communities in Canada.
Since 1986, Petro-Canada has honoured more than 1,200 coaches with a Petro-Canada Coaching Excellence Award. Recipients of the Petro-Canada Coaching Excellence Awards are coaches who have reached the podium at world championships, Olympic Games, Paralympic Games, or Special Olympic Games. They are recognized annually at the Petro-Canada Sport Leadership Awards Gala.
Since 1988, the Petro-Canada Fuelling Athlete and Coaching Excellence (FACE) Program has supported more than 3,000 athletes and coaches in their quest to reach the Olympic or Paralympic Games. Each year, Petro-Canada selects 55 up-and-coming athletes and their coaches from across Canada to receive a FACE grant to help them along their journey.
