Recent Research

Since 2020, the Canadian Paralympic Committee (CPC) and Coaching Association of Canada (CAC) have collaborated on new resources targeting the development of disability sport coaches.

Our long-term goals are that:

  • NCCP Community sport, Instruction and Competition-Introduction training allows all coaches to be ready to welcome people with disabilities in their program.
  • Coach development resources are available and regrouped for coaches to build the knowledge and skills required to individualize their coaching.
  • People have the opportunity to identify how they can be involved in sport coaching.
  • People living with disabilities are more represented among coaches and coach developers.

Three research insights summaries, developed as snapshots of vast research work over the past few years, provide at-a-glance information about disability sport coaching, setting a historical basis for the work that needs to be done for greater disability sport and disability inclusion in coaching and the best ways forward.
