OTTAWA, ON, AUGUST 15, 2024 – The Coaching Association of Canada (CAC) is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2024-2025 Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Grant Program, powered by MONDO.

The CAC is dedicated to providing opportunities for coaches through grants to sport organizations that develop and implement programs to support coaches in one or more of the CAC’s Priority Groups, which include women, visible minorities, persons with disabilities, Indigenous Peoples, and people who identify with the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. The primary objective of the EDI Grant Program, powered by MONDO, is to increase the diversity of the coaching population in Canada and ensure that sports environments are inclusive and accessible.

In 2019, the CAC conducted a study on coaching diversity and inclusion initiatives launched by National Sport Organizations (NSOs). The goal of this research was to identify how the CAC could best support their NSO partners in achieving our collective goals for equity in coaching. As a result of the findings, the CAC expanded the NSO EDI Grant Program to increase support and resources available for program development and implementation.

In 2024, the CAC was able to increase the financial support available to EDI Grant recipients thanks to a partnership with MONDO, an internationally renowned retailer with over 70 years in sports flooring. Eligibility for the EDI Grant Program was also expanded this year to include Provincial/Territorial Coaching Representatives (PTCRs) and the Canadian Olympic and Paralympic Sport Institute Network (COPSIN) in addition to NSOs. Provincial/Territorial Sport Organizations were also welcome to apply with endorsement or in partnership with their NSO.

The CAC is pleased to announce the selected recipients of the 2024-2025 EDI Grants:

  • Baseball Canada; Women in Coaching Program

  • Canadian Cerebral Palsy Sport Association; Boccia Coaches with Disabilities Development Program

  • Curling Canada; “Confidence” – Building Confidence in Female Coaches

“We are thrilled to be part of the outstanding Coaching Association of Canada program.” said Latasha Pittman, Director, Brand & Marketing, MONDO. “Let's take inspiration from the recent Olympic Games and the upcoming Paralympic Games, where diversity, equity, and inclusion are integral, and weave the same principles into our Canadian sports organizations. Congratulations to all the grant recipients!”
