Ottawa (November 8, 2014) – The 2014 Petro-Canada Sport Leadership sportif Conference wrapped up today after three successful days of gathering Canada’s sport leaders together in order to grow, network, and celebrate Canada’s best coaches.

“When the leaders of our national sport community come together, everyone in Canada benefits through a strengthened Canadian sport system. Sport brings communities together and has the power to transform the country from playground to podium,” stated Lorraine Lafrenière, Chief Executive Officer of the Coaching Association of Canada.

Highlights of this year’s edition of the Conference included keynote presentations by Drew Dudley, Founder of Nuance Leadership, Sheldon Kennedy, Jowi Taylor and Six String Nation; engaging fireside chats with former Chefs de mission Chantal Petitclerc, Steve Podborski, and Ozzie Sawicki, and Sochi Olympic and Paralympic Coaches Jean-Sébastien Labrie, Robin McKeever, and Elaine Dagg-Jackson; and many other thought-provoking, change-enducing workshops filled with fantastic content for delegates to return home with.

The conference also celebrated our country’s most dedicated, inspiring, and successful coaches at the Petro-Canada Sport Leadership Awards Gala. The 2014 award recipients exemplify the values and competencies of the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) and highlight the impact that one’s passion and dedication to the profession can have on positively shaping our Canadian sport community. “Congratulations to the Coaching Association of Canada on organizing another successful Petro-Canada Sport Leadership sportif Conference and bringing together some of Canada’s best coaches, administrators, and leaders,” stated the Honourable Bal Gosal, Minister of State (Sport). “Our Government recognizes the role that all coaches play in the development of our athletes and of sport in Canada. That is why we support coaches across the country in a variety of ways, including financial support to the Sport Leadership sportif Conference and the Coaching Association of Canada.”
