To celebrate National Concussion Week, the Coaching Association of Canada (CAC) is proud to announce the release of the newly revised NCCP Making Head Way in Sport eLearning module, a crucial advancement in concussion education for coaches, parents, and participants.


In collaboration with a dedicated task force of experts, the 60-minute module has been updated to incorporate the latest concussion research, ensuring that coaches are equipped with the most current knowledge and skills to prioritize participant safety.


Key features of the revised module include:

  • Prevention Strategies: Coaches will gain insights into effective steps that can be taken to prevent concussions, fostering a proactive approach to safety within sports environments.
  • Recognition of Signs and Symptoms: The module focuses on enhancing the ability to recognize signs and symptoms of concussions swiftly and accurately, allowing for timely intervention.
  • Actionable Steps: Participants will learn how to take immediate and effective action when a concussion is suspected, contributing to a safer sports culture.
  • Safe Return-to-Sport Strategies: The module guides coaches on implementing strategies for a safe return to sport, emphasizing the importance of a carefully managed post-concussion recovery process.


Module Details:

  • Duration: 60 minutes
  • Cost: FREE
  • Professional Development (PD) Points: Coaches maintaining their NCCP certified or trained status will earn 5 PD points upon successful completion of the module.
     

A newly created 5-minute microLearning is available online at coach.ca/concussion to complement the education provided in the eLearning module.  This is available for free on the Coaching Association of Canada’s Concussion Awareness page, and will take coaches approximately 5 minutes to complete.


This revised eLearning module reaffirms the CAC's commitment to advancing coaching education and ensuring the highest standards of safety within the sporting community.
