Ottawa, ON (October 18, 2013) -- The Coaching Association of Canada (CAC) is pleased to announce that Lorraine Lafrenière, former Chief Operating Officer/Vice-president Operations & Marketing for the organization from 2002 to 2006, and the current Director General for CanoeKayak Canada, will be returning to the CAC as our new Chief Executive Officer, effective December 9, 2013.

“We are very happy to welcome Lorraine back to the CAC,” said Gabor Csepregi, Chair of the Board of Directors. “She brings a wealth of experience from her various roles within the Canadian sport system over the last 25 years that will enable us to create a genuine culture of innovation, excellence, and high performance in coach development and education.”

From the beginning of her career as the Manager, Media Relations for the then Canadian Olympic Association, through her time at the CAC, to her role as CEO/Secretary General at the Canadian Cycling Association, to her current role at CanoeKayak Canada, Lafrenière has helped drive the strategic development of sport while contributing to the creation of a Canadian sport system driven by excellence at all levels. At the London Olympic Games, CanoeKayak was one of Canada’s top producing sports contributing three Olympic medals to Canada’s 18-medal count.

“Coaching is the backbone of meaningful sport performance at all levels of the Canadian sport system and I look forward to creating stronger development programs and services in collaboration with all of Canada’s coaching education partners to achieve future success,” said Lafrenière. “It is a privilege for me to return to the CAC and to contribute to the development of Canada’s coaches.”
