The Coaching Association of Canada (CAC) today announced the appointment of two new Members to its Board of Directors. Both Danielle Emmons from Canada Basketball will be joining as representative of National Sport Organizations (NSOs) and Saheed Khan from Athletics Ontario as Athlete Representative. Both were officially welcomed into their positions following the Coaching Association of Canada’s Annual General Meeting (or Board Meeting) on June 3.

“We are so pleased to welcome Danielle and Saheed to our Board,” said Paul Carson, Chair of the CAC’s Board of Directors. “Their experience with coach education delivery in high-performance sport, combined with their leadership on projects and programs impactful to sport within their own communities will be instrumental in helping guide and support the evolving landscape of the greater sport community at a national level.”

Danielle Emmons

Danielle is currently the Manager for Coach Education and Special Projects for Canada Basketball where she manages all aspects of coach education across 13 provincial and territorial sport organizations. She also develops objectives and project plans for special projects across the organization in gender equity and safe sport, including the completion of their Gender Equity Playbook. In safe sport, Danielle developed Canada Basketball’s Safe Sport strategy and has completed Respect Group certification; Respect in Sport & Workplace, Keeping Girls in Sport, Gender Equity LENS training, among others. Prior to this, Danielle had led the development of an Ontario150 signature initiative Changing the Game, Changing the Conversation for female coach mentorship at the Coaches Association of Ontario.

Saheed Khan

Saheed is a former four-time Canadian National Team Member for Athletics Canada, competing for Canada at the NACAC Cross Country Championships in 2009, 2012, 2014 and the I.A.A.F. World Cross Country Championships in 2009. In his role in Coaching Development with Athletics Ontario, he now guides coaches in completing their coaching certification pathways and coordinates the hosting of NCCP coaching education courses. A former coach himself, Saheed also acts as Lead for the Athletics Ontario Coaching Mentorship Program and sits on the CAC Gender-based Violence/Teen Dating Violence in Sport Task Force.
