The Coaching Association of Canada (CAC) is pleased to announce the addition of Anthony Sauvé to the CAC team in the position of manager, aboriginal coach development.
Many will know Anthony as the manager of coaching and leadership with the Aboriginal Sport Circle (ASC). CAC has been partners with the ASC for over 15 years, and in an effort to maintain the fantastic momentum in the aboriginal coaching program, with the endorsement of Sport Canada, CAC has signed an agreement with the ASC to bring Anthony to the CAC team.
“We are very excited to have Anthony join CAC,” said John Bales, chief executive officer of CAC. “The work he has done with the aboriginal community and coaching is significant, and we could not be more pleased to continue to support that work by having him be a part of the CAC team.”
Born and raised in Orillia, Ont., Anthony has roots deeply planted in the sport community. An active community hockey coach for thirteen years, he is passionate about coaching and has long focused his passion for coaching and coach development towards aboriginal youth. A sport administration graduate from Durham College, Anthony started his career in sport with the Sport for Kids Foundation, a charitable foundation for inner city kids in Richmond Hill, Ont. Since 2006, Anthony has been a crucial member of the ASC.
“I am very pleased to be joining the Coaching Association of Canada,” said Sauvé. “My operational plan for this year is to continue working on aboriginal coach development with an emphasis on aboriginal facilitator training, marketing of the Aboriginal Coaching Manual, and increasing the number of non-aboriginal coaches using this training tool. I am also looking forward to working with all provincial/territorial sport bodies on this plan, while developing new partnerships with any national sport organization that has an interest in aboriginal coach development.”
Anthony will work from his office in Orillia, joining the CAC head office team, in Ottawa, Ont., on a monthly basis.
