PERFORM. REFLECT. GROW. CELEBRATE. INFLUENCE. GO!
At this year’s Petro-Canada Sport Leadership sportif conference, we are inviting you and other Canadian sport leaders and influencers to consider how your actions can continue to grow and have meaningful impact for your sport and organization. Hear and exchange with emotional intelligence leaders on their strategies to influence performance of athletes, teams, and organizations. Learn from sport leaders and coaches as to the research and tools they use to recognize, adapt, and improve their relationships and results. Reaffirm and build on the need for a strong organizational culture to shape performance, productivity, recruitment, and retention. Reflect on the positive power of leadership, and celebrate its ability to create valuable learning opportunities in our sport, education, and workplace environments.

“We’re inviting sport leaders to consider how their actions can make a positive impact on their sport and organization, and learn how to optimize their influence. We will reflect on the power of leadership and celebrate its ability to create learning opportunities,” says Lorraine Lafrenière, Chief Executive Officer of the CAC. “These discussions are what ignite connection, ideas, and change to help make our Canadian sport system even more of a unique and diverse community.”

Confirmed keynote speakers so far include Jim Moss, Chief Executive Officer of Plasticity Labs, and Nova Browning Rutherford, Mindfulness Facilitator & Wellness Expert on CTV’s The Social.

“I am truly looking forward to connecting with so many heart-centered leaders. My intention is to remind coaches that their passion and altruistic nature need protecting. Prioritizing self-care and exploring mindfulness are evidence-based ways to do this. We know that a good coach can have a life-long, positive influence on an athlete and a 'bad coach' can have an adverse impact. By influencing these influencers, supporting their personal development, and creating the opportunity for an honest dialogue and reflect on stresses and solutions, the ripple effect from the SLS18 conference can change the way Canadians engage in sport and beyond,” says Nova Browning Rutherford.
