MISSION: RESILIENCE
This year’s Petro-Canada Sport Leadership sportif Conference invites delegates to join Mission: Resilience to strengthen their organizations and improve performance. Through inspiring keynote presentations and focused breakout sessions, attendees will discover and discuss the latest techniques to build resilience in their athletes, coaches, teams, and organizations. These exciting three days will give attendees the opportunity to exchange hard-won lessons in achieving growth through adversity with like-minded peers, and make valuable professional connections that will move their respective organizations forward. In doing so, attendees will collectively reaffirm their commitment to their athletes, coaches, organizations, and themselves.
“In addition to their skills, an athlete must possess tremendous resilience on the path to success. To support our athletes, our sport community must be resilient as well,” said Lorraine Lafrenière, Chief Executive Officer of the CAC. “Just as participants must overcome obstacles and recover from their setbacks in sport, so must we be resilient in the face of the challenges with our sport system. We can learn to be more resilient by learning from each other.”
Confirmed keynotes include Dr. Andy Van Neutegem, Director of Performance Sciences Research and Innovation at Own The Podium, and Pamela Jeffrey, National Lead, KPMG Inclusion & Diversity Strategy Group.
“The sport system in Canada is at a critical point in its evolution. Sport organizations across the country are grappling with a host of new challenges, be it concussion awareness, the need for diversity and inclusion, or better protecting our athletes from harassment and abuse,” said Dr. Van Neutegem. “Yet the demands on our athletes have not changed. Our ability to meet these challenges while supporting our athletes in their own quests for excellence means we must learn new skills as well.”
