Renewal continues support of the Petro-Canada Sport Leadership sportif conference and introduces new Petro-Points™ Family & Friends Program
Richmond, BC (November 3, 2016) – In front of 575 delegates at the 2016 Petro-Canada Sport Leadership sportif conference this afternoon, Petro-Canada, a Suncor business, announced its continued support for an additional eight years as a corporate partner of the Coaching Association of Canada (CAC).
The renewed sponsorship agreement, which extends Petro-Canada and the CAC’s partnership through to 2024, will support the Petro-Canada Sport Leadership sportif conference, which includes the Petro-Canada Coaching Excellence Awards, the Fuelling Athlete and Coaching Excellence (FACE™) program, and the new Petro-Points Family & Friends Program.
This partnership renewal introduces a new program for the families and friends of Canadian Paralympic and Olympic athletes, the Petro-Points Family & Friends Program. With every eligible Petro-Points purchase made by registered families and friends of Canadian athletes and coaches, Petro-Canada will match the base point amount and direct the funds to the Coaching Association of Canada, the Canadian Paralympic Committee (CPC), or the Canadian Olympic Committee (COC), to support Canadian athletes and coaches. The program will be launched in 2017 in collaboration with the three organizations.
“Since 1988, Petro-Canada has supported more than 2,700 athletes and coaches on their quest to the Olympic and Paralympic Games,” said Deborah Gullaher, vice president, Sales and Marketing, Suncor. “It is a privilege to play a part in the lives of Canadian coaches as they are an integral part of the success of our athletes.”
“Petro-Canada’s leadership in the Canadian sport community remains exceptional and the 2016 Petro-Canada Sport Leadership sportif conference will highlight the ever-growing commitment of inclusion in sport leadership with diverse angles and creative innovation,” stated Lorraine Lafrenière, Chief Executive Officer of the CAC. “We are thrilled to announce the continued partnership at this sold out conference and look forward to the renewed impact this partnership has on successful coach education in Canada.”
Beginning today, the 2016 Petro-Canada Sport Leadership sportif conference (#SLS16) welcomes coaches, researchers, sport executives, and administrators to Canada’s annual conference for sport leaders.
