Wherever there is a participant, there is a coach

CAC programs empower sport coaches and sport organizations in Canada with knowledge and skills, promotes ethics, fosters positive attitudes, builds competence, and increases the credibility and recognition of coaches.

For organizations that engage paid and volunteer coaches, the CAC works with its partners to develop and deliver quality coach education and advocate for safety in sport.

For coaches, the CAC advocates for professional and ethical standards at every level of sport in Canada and helps them achieve the highest designation of Chartered Professional Coach (ChPC).

For parents, the CAC and its partners establish educational and ethical standards for sport organizations that help create a safe and respectful environment for participants and coaches.

History

The CAC was established in 1970 as a result of recommendations of the Task Force on Sport for Canadians. In 1974, it launched the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP); more than 1.8 million coaches have participated in the program since its inception. Each year, more than 60,000 coaches take an NCCP workshop.
