2025 Lifetime Achievement Award Recipient

Pat Reid, ChPC (Stratford, ON)

Pat Reid is a highly accomplished Canadian high jump coach and sports administrator with a PhD in sport management. Over more than fifty years, he became the first volunteer coach in athletics to coach at the six major athletics events: the Olympic Games, Pan American Games, Commonwealth Games, Francophone Games, World Championships, and World Junior Championships. As a member of the IOC Olympic Solidarity Coaching Initiative, he was sent to several countries, including to Australia and twice to China, to coach their high jump coaches. An author of over 25 technical high jump articles published in international coaching journals, Pat is also known for creating and directing the Ottawa Citizen Indoor Games, at which 14 world indoor records have been set, including the first woman, American Colleen Sommer, to clear 2.00 meters in the high jump. He was the first North American athletics coach to deliver the keynote address at the Annual European Athletics Coaches Conference.
