The Coaching Association of Canada congratulates Carla Qualtrough, the new Minister of Sport and Persons with Disabilities

Following today’s announcement from the Government of Canada, the Coaching Association of Canada would like to congratulate Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his cabinet on their new appointments. Paralympian Carla Qualtrough, Member for Delta, BC, was sworn in today as Minister of Sport and Persons with Disabilities.

“Congratulations to the Honourable Carla Qualtrough, our new Minister of Sport and Persons with Disabilities,” said Lorraine Lafrenière, CEO of the Coaching Association of Canada. “We are looking forward to working with the new Government of Canada, one that has committed to working collectively and to continue building and strengthening our Canadian sport system. We are eager to work with Ms Qualtrough.”

As an athlete, Carla Qualtrough won three swimming Paralympic and four World Championship medals. She is passionate about the power of sport and physical activity to change lives. She has been President of the Canadian Paralympic Committee and Chair of the Sport Dispute Resolution Centre of Canada. Carla is on the Board of the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport, and Vice-Chair of the Delta Gymnastics Society.
