OTTAWA, ON (Dec 20, 2018) – The Coaching Association of Canada (CAC) and Kids Help Phone / Jeunesse, J’écoute today announced a five-year partnership that will broaden valuable support services and resources to young people within the sport community in Canada.

Kids Help Phone operates Canada’s only 24/7, professional counselling, referral and information service for young people. Young people reach out to Kids Help Phone from every corner of the country via phone, Live Chat, text, and through Kids Help Phone’s online resources.

The CAC is dedicated to providing coaches the tools they need to support youth in quality sport. The presence of competent and ethical coaches impacts sport participation, performance and the lives of those they coach. Being able to provide support lines is part of the coaches’ toolkit.

“The partnership with Kids Help Phone is in line with our mission of enhancing the experiences of athletes in positive ways,” says Lorraine Lafrenière, Chief Executive Officer of the Coaching Association of Canada. “The charity offers a breadth of resources for athletes and coaches to access that complements the Responsible Coaching Movement which works to keep sport environments healthy and safe.”

Kids Help Phone relies on the generous contributions of corporate and individual donors to continue to provide its services to youth from coast-to-coast-to-coast.

“We look forward to providing tools and resources to the CAC to share with coaches and youth that will provide support services and resources to the sporting community,” says Katherine Hay, President and CEO, Kids Help Phone / Jeunesse, J’écoute. “It takes courage for a young person to reach out to us, and it takes courage for the community to stand behind them and support them. Through this partnership with the CAC, we can continue to provide immediate support to young people across Canada by phone, live chat, text and online.”
