The Coaching Association of Canada (CAC) today announced the appointment of Matt Allen as National Sport Organization (NSO) Representative to its Board of Directors.
Matt is an internationally recognized Senior Sport Leader who has been involved with his community and coaching education throughout years of experience in education and high-performance sport. Matt graduated with honours from Wilfrid Laurier University, where he was named 2019 Young Alumna of the year, and then attended Royal Roads University for his Master of Arts in Executive Leadership. In 2021, Matt received the Canadian Golf Executive of the Year.
Since he joined the Professional Golfers Association of Canada (PGA) in 2011, Matt has spoken at and consulted for several conventions and summits, including but not limited to, for Canadian Women and Sport in 2021, Softball Canada Umpires Conference in 2018, the Northern Ontario Coaching Sumit in 2019, and the Petro-Canada Sport Leadership sportif conference in 2017.
As PGA’s Managing Director of Education, and later as Chief Innovation Officer, Matt led and implemented numerous programs and projects, including management of the National Coaching Certification Program for golf. He has collaborated with world leaders in the fields of sport science, business, and innovation, while continuing to contribute to his community by creating local and national programs and sport development from grassroots to high performance.
Matt’s passion for sport has led him to pursue his own coaching career; he has coached the Bytown Belles Senior Women’s softball team for more than five years, and the Laurier University Women’s Softball team for more than 15 years. His role with the PGA of Canada's D&I Taskforce (Chair), Co-Chair of the Sport Inclusion Task Force, and the You Can Play Project (Co-Chair), all speak to Matt’s character and reflect his commitment to DEI.

The CAC is committed to diverse representation and to including voices that are reflective of society and of our sport community. The CAC Board of Directors is currently comprised of 16 members who bring assorted representation to the table with one common goal of enhancing the experience of all athletes in Canada through quality coaching.
