Ottawa, ON (July 26, 2016) – The Coaching Association of Canada (CAC) is pleased to welcome Peter Niedre as its new Director of Education Partnerships, effective July 25, 2016. Peter joins the CAC following a 10-year tenure with Canoe Kayak Canada where, in his most recent capacity, he led the organization’s national coaching education programs. 

“Peter is a true champion for coaches and I am thrilled that he has joined the CAC,” says Lorraine Lafrenière, Chief Executive Officer of the CAC. “His extensive experience in developing and effectively managing programs at the community, national, and international levels will be a strong asset to our organization. He will play an important role in continuing to ensure that Canada remains a world-leading nation in coaching education programs,” she added.

With his extensive experience as an educator, a coach, and sport administrator, Peter is well equipped for his new role which will focus on developing and nurturing strong collaborative relationships with key partners and stakeholders to ensure the promotion and advancement of coach development in Canada.  His strong interpersonal and communications skills will prove valuable as he works collaboratively with a broad base of stakeholders to create and implement a focused national vision and strategy for the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP).

In addition to his professional experience, Peter holds a Master’s degree in Human Kinetics – Exercise Physiology, a Bachelor in Human Kinetics Degree, and a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Ottawa.  He began his professional career as an educator with Lisgar Collegiate Institute, also in Ottawa.  Well known to the Canadian Sport community, Peter looks forward to continuing to play an integral role in strengthening coach development and technical leadership opportunities for coaches in Canada.

Through my career and volunteering, I’ve been fortunate to have the opportunity to coach and work at all levels of sport, and understand the value and impact of competent coaching on athlete experiences, from grassroots to high performance,” said Peter. “The NCCP is a world-leading coach education program and I’m excited for the opportunity to work as part of the CAC team and with our partners to continue to have a larger, widespread impact on our coaches and athletes at all levels of play.”
