Ottawa (October 15) – The Coaching Association of Canada (CAC) is pleased to announce that Elisabeth Walker-Young and Stephanie Dixon, respectively Chef de Mission and Assistant Chef de Mission at the Toronto 2015 Parapan Am Games, are joining forces again at the 2015 Petro-Canada Sport Leadership sportif conference (SLS15) as emcees.

Lorraine Lafrenière, Chief Executive Officer of the CAC, thinks they’re an ideal fit given the conference theme aims to reflect on the successes and impact the 2015 Year of Sport in Canada. “I am so happy that Elisabeth and Stephanie have accepted our invitation to act as emcees in Winnipeg. After leading the Canadian delegation to a record-setting performance at the 2015 Parapan Am Games, we are delighted to have these two to guide us through the conference as we celebrate the success of the Year of Sport!”

Elisabeth Walker-Young is a four-time Paralympian who retired from competitive swimming in 2005 as a 13-year member of the Canadian Paralympic Swim Team. Throughout her swimming career, she broke numerous Canadian and World records, bringing home six Paralympic medals. “I am excited and honoured to be co-emceeing the Sport Leadership conference with Stephanie. It’s been a great Year of Sport and it has set us up well for success leading up to Rio and for the long term as we collectively strive to meet our sport leadership potential. The timing is perfect to bridge the gap, connect dots, and establish roles that we can play in future success.”

For her part, this will be Stephanie Dixon’s second time participating at #SLS15, having co-emceed the 2014 edition with fellow Paralympic athltete, Benoît Huot. She is a three-time Paralympian and has won a total of 19 medals, including 7 gold. She is also the current world record holder in the 200-metre backstroke (S9). "The Pan and Parapan American Games this past summer brought an incredible wave of excitement and pride into Toronto and across Canada. I am thrilled to join forces once again with Elisabeth. As Sport Leaders gather in Winnipeg, we will build off of the excitement, pride, and momentum set this summer as we head into this Paralympic/Olympic Year!"
