Lorraine Lafrenière, CEO of the Coaching Association of Canada, named to CAAWS Most Influential Women List

OTTAWA (January 13th, 2015) – The Coaching Association of Canada (CAC) is pleased to announce that our CEO, Lorraine Lafrenière, has been included in the Canadian Association for the Advancement of Women in Sport and Physical Activity’s (CAAWS) Most Influential Women List for 2014.
“For Lorraine to be acknowledged on this list is very special, and to be in the company of curling coach Janet Arnott and hockey coach France St-Louis makes it all the more meaningful,” said Gabor Csepregi, Chair of the Board of Directors of CAC. “CAAWS honours some of the most celebrated women in Canadian sport and for Lorraine to be included amongst these inspiring female leaders, including two of the many thousands of coaches the CAC serves, is wonderful.”
Each year, CAAWS publishes the Most Influential Women List to highlight the women who have influenced sport and physical activity in Canada and on the international scene. Lafrenière, who returned to the CAC in 2013, spent the past year leading the transformation of the organization and building on a culture of innovation, accountability, excellence, and high performance in coach development and education through the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP). She also led the successful amalgamation of Coaches of Canada with the CAC in a bid to further the profession of coaching in Canada. The year was capped with the very successful Petro-Canada Sport Leadership sportif Conference in November which saw a break-through in the equal representation of Olympic and Paralympic coaches and athletes in Canadian Sport.
Lafrenière, the first female CEO of the organization, continues to build on a storied career in the Canadian sport system and to demonstrate strategic leadership in an effort to advance Canadian sport.
