Concussion Awareness

Get concussion smart

Concussions can occur while participating in any sport or recreational activity. Since the circumstances under which a concussion can be sustained are so varied, it’s important for all coaches, parents, and athletes to be aware of the signs, symptoms, and what to do if a concussion occurs.

Resources

All of CAC's resources are aligned with the Canadian Guideline on Concussion in Sport, produced by Parachute Canada, and designed to teach you how to ensure the safety of athletes and participants.

For Canadians who are visually impaired or blind, an extensive list of resources on concussion and visual impairments are available on the Canadian Blind Sports website

Making Head Way: Concussion eLearning Series

These free NCCP modules will help you gain the knowledge and skills required to ensure the safety of your participants.

You will need a Locker account and NCCP number to access these modules. If you have never taken an NCCP course and need a NCCP number, you can create a free account in the Locker.

You should expect to spend 60-90 minutes completing a module. Each completed module will be recorded on your coaching transcript and may contribute to your maintenance of certification.
