OTTAWA (July 25, 2013) – The Coaching Association of Canada (CAC) is excited to announce the hiring of two new coaching consultants who will be excellent additions to the organization’s Research and Development team. Laura Watson will join the organization in the role of Senior Coaching Consultant, based out of Vancouver, BC, while Jenny Davey will assume the role of Coaching Consultant working out of the CAC office in Ottawa, ON.
Laura Watson has a wealth of coaching knowledge and experience which will be of great value to the CAC and its partners. She is a National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) Master Learning Facilitator for both multi-sport and sport-specific workshops and is a Level 3 certified Competition – Development Ringette coach. Watson most recently worked with viaSport where she was the Sport Development Lead. Before that, she served as Executive Director and Technical Director of the Coaches Association of British Columbia which included the responsibility of working with the CAC as the Provincial Coaching Representative for British Columbia.
Jenny Davey joins the CAC after successfully completing her Master of Arts in Psychology and Pedagogy of Physical Activity and Sport at the University of Ottawa. Both Davey’s research interests and past employment experience exemplify her passion for coach education and parasport. Most recently Davey was the Program Manager and Head Coach of the Nepean Sailing Club’s Able Sail Program. She has also worked with Sail Canada as a designer and lead on a number of coaching modules for persons with a disability including the first national Coaching Persons with a Disability Professional Development Module for Canadian sailing instructors.
“We’re very pleased to add Jenny and Laura as coaching consultants to the Research and Development team,” said Cyndie Flett, Vice-President, Research and Development at the CAC. “We have expanded our team to better serve our NCCP sport partners, and look forward to the contributions that each of these women will provide to our organization and our partners.”
We are also pleased to announce that current Coaching Consultants Neale Gillespie, Kathy Brook, and Isabelle Cayer have been promoted to Senior Coaching Consultants joining current Senior Coaching Consultant Gérard Lauzière, and Watson.
Further, the Research and Development team will see current CAC staff Anthony Bhagwandin and Claudia Gagnon add consulting to their current portfolios. Contract Coaching Consultant Doug Krochak will also continue his role with the CAC, based out of Winnipeg, MB.
This expansion of the Research and Development team is a direct reflection of the continued success of the NCCP with its national and provincial partners. Sport responsibilities will be redistributed throughout the Research and Development team to ensure that the CAC continues to provide exceptional support to our NCCP sport partners and to maximize on the experience that each Research and Development team member brings to the organization.
Watson and Davey will join the CAC starting August 12, 2013.
