OTTAWA (May 6, 2015) – The Coaching Association of Canada (CAC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Keira Torkko as the new Chief Operating Officer, effective June 1, 2015. Torkko joins the CAC as a 12-year-veteran of the National Research Council (NRC) where she has fulfilled the role of Director General of Business Management Support since 2012. This experience is augmented with a diverse background from within the public, private, and not-for-profit sectors.

“It is a significant move to recruit Keira into Canada's Coaching education and development mandate,” said Lorraine Lafrenière, Chief Executive Officer of the Coaching Association of Canada. “She will bring tremendous leadership skills from Canada's premier organization for research and development and be an asset to our CAC team.”

A strategic leader and experienced business operations professional, Torkko is known for successfully building and developing teams to their full performance potential. As Director General of Business Management Support for the NRC, Torkko led the development and execution of the team’s strategic vision and operational plan which resulted in increased business opportunities, improved systems and processes, and enhanced cooperation and satisfaction amongst staff and clients. As a CPA, CGA, Torkko brings a unique combination of business, technology, and accounting knowledge to the Chief Operating Officer role. In her new role at the CAC, Torkko will play an integral role in shaping the organization’s strategic vision while optimizing its resources to achieve its operational goals and objectives.

“I am very motivated to be joining an organization with such a clear focus on developing human potential through coaching,” said Torkko. “I look forward to bringing my business operations, economic development, and leadership experience to the CAC and I am eager to contribute to the development and delivery of quality coach education in Canada.”
