Ottawa (November 8, 2018) – More than 500 attendees have converged on Ottawa for the opening of the 2018 Petro-Canada Sport Leadership sportif conference (#SLS18), Canada’s conference for coaches, researchers, sport executives, and administrators. Organized by the Coaching Association of Canada (CAC), it runs from November 8-10 at the Westin Ottawa.
At this year’s conference, sport leaders and influencers are invited to consider how their actions can continue to grow and have meaningful impact for their sport and organization.
“Every year, we welcome a variety of coaches, leaders, administrators, and researchers to our conference,” says Lorraine Lafrenière, Chief Executive Officer of the CAC. “Their power and influence foster positive change in the Canadian sport system. They are differentiators in our system and they have the power to transform themselves and their peers, along with our athletes and participants throughout the country. This conference is meant to support them in their growth and impact throughout their careers.”
The speakers presenting at this year’s conference come from varied backgrounds and experience. They include, among others, keynote speakers Jim Moss, Chief Executive Officer of Plasticity Labs, and Nova Browning Rutherford, Mindfulness Facilitator & Wellness Expert on CTV’s The Social. Other speakers include Karen O'Neill, Chief Executive Officer of the Canadian Paralympic Committee, Own the Podium Chief Executive Officer Anne Merklinger, and Rugby Canada’s Manager of National Coach Development Paul Hunter.
Canada’s top coaches and sport leaders will also be celebrated at the Petro-Canada Sport Leadership Awards Gala on Friday, Nov. 9th, at the Shaw Centre.
