Dave Johnson, ChPC, a former president of Coaches of Canada and an Olympic swimming coach, is the newest member of the Coaching Association of Canada’s (CAC) Wall of Fame in recognition of his commitment to advancing the profession of coaching.
“It’s an honour to be able to recognize Dave’s tireless contribution to the development of the coaching profession in Canada. Early on in his career, Dave had the insight and vision to understand the need to create the value and respect for coaching, without which the profession would not have progressed at the rate it did within the Canadian sport system,” says Lorraine Lafrenière, Chief Executive Officer of the CAC.
Dave was also the Chair of the Canadian Professional Coaches Association (CPCA), when it was part of the CAC, and was instrumental in creating the former Coaches of Canada and its vision for the profession of coaching in Canada.
“Coaching and the role of the coach in positively affecting the youth of our country is my passion. To be recognized by my peers is an honour and to be on the wall with the coaching greats that have formed the fabric of coaching and advocated on behalf of the profession in Canada is very humbling,” says Dave Johnson.
